Musical youth shortlisted for award
Thursday, 01 March 2012
CHEPSTOW Musical Youth Theatre has been shortlisted for a major national award. Their production of Beauty and the Beast is in the running for the best in the Wales and Ireland section of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) awards. The show was nominated after being seen by a NODA adjudicator and is up against two other productions for the award in June. The show was the first directed by Louise Marsh for CMYT and she said she was “over the moon” at the nomination. She said: “The young people are incredibly talented and we have an amazing crew working with them. “I have been to the NODA awards before and I’ve always thought it would be great to be nominated. Now we have been it’s unbelievable. “People ought to come along and see just how talented they are.” The group is split into seniors – whose production has been nominated – and juniors. The seniors are now in rehearsal for their next production, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma. It takes place at Chepstow School from Thursday, March 29 until Saturday, March 31.
